BE MY BRIDESMAID….THANKS, BUT NO! THANKS
I am sure we all had a great weekend. As for me I did, although traffic almost ruined it but it was good anyway. I’m certain quite a lot of us attended one wedding or the other this past weekend. Weddings are always fantastic! Everyone who reads this blog regularly knows I love weddings but eeerm….
I don’t know if it’s just me oh but have you noticed the number of bridesmaids people usually have these days? Some people have like 8-12 ladies in their train. Haba! Kilodeeeee!! I was at a studio in Ikeja last Saturday, while looking at some wedding pictures and albums, I saw a bride with 12 ladies in her train. Now this excludes the best lady oh or maid of honour as some peole like to call it. I was amazed! A dozen full of ladies?? Seriously??
Another thing I also noticed, and I’m sure you also have observed is that, the bridesmaids are always gorgeously adorned. In fact some of them even out-do the bride herself. From their hair and make-up, to their accessories, the drop-dead gorgeous dresses/attires and the mountain everest heels, there’s no stopping these bridesmaids but you can’t blame them, because most of them pay heavily for virtually everything they have on that day. So they are justified to look as fabulous as possible.
Before this year runs out, a good number of my friends, cousins and church members would be joining the marriage clan☺. Quite a number of them have asked me to either be a bridesmaid, part of the aso-ebi ladies or the ore-iyawo (bride’s friends) train.
Honestly, I’m honoured that they found me worthy to be a bridesmaid but I’ve had to turn down quite a number of those offers. Not because I hold anything against the bride or the groom but Nna ehn! The cost implication of those things “ Odi very high” (is very high). Some of the attires go for 20k and above!! So you can imagine my plight ☹, if I have to do that for over 6 people before the year runs out. That’s like 120k or more!! Yeeepa! that one don reach to buy land for our village na!
I’ve had to apologize to so many people who felt disappointed that I didn’t respond to their bridesmaid requests but I hope they can forgive me. No be my fault na ☹. If I could do it all, I would gladly accept them all but it is better to be honest now, than to be telling stories a few weeks to the Big Day. I wish them all a great forever marriage. To those whose bridesmaid offers I accepted, you are indeed special to me oh coz no be say the money too dey like that ooo.
But my dear readers, what do you think about the daily increasing price of Aso-Ebi? Some of the marriages don’t even last long sef…..just saying oh. Maybe there should be a refund system or som’n…..LOL. To y’all getting married sometime this year, you better invite me oh♥~♥. Ok please invite me☺. And to the brides, you don’t necessarily need to have a dozen ladies behind you on that day, 4-6 is just fine. But it’s your day anyway; if you like get 24 of them. It’s your BIG DAY. Abi no be so?
Have a productive week.
Love,

I love wedings with beautiful long train, always colourful, but seriously with the rate at which pple divorced this days, guess couples should just make it simple if they are going to seperate the next day, cos I can’t imagine paying as high as 20k for bridesmaid clothing and the nextday, the couples r divorced, abeg Make them come take their cloth, make them refund my money.

Honestly, ive seen a train of 16 ladies, 16 guys, to me its just not it @all.
Remembered when my elder sis just got married & was having issues with the hubby, when she came with the hubby complaining, my dad just said “First of all Introduction”, we whr like meaning? Then he said, the money he spent from their Introduction to Wedding should be refunded first before he grants them audience. You know what, they left immediately and till date ive not heard of any issues between them.
D prices for all these Aso ebi, bridal stuffs etc should be affordable cos the buyers re actually doing the couples favour by beautifying their day.
Its all about the Marriage, not the Wedding oo’h!!!
