BY FIRE,BY FORCE…NOTHING CAN STOP THIS NOT EVEN MY PARENTS

I woke up one Sunday morning, saw a message from my good friend and it says ”I’ve finally taken Tunji to meet my parents…we’ll talk about d rest later”

I was elated,I started making mental notes on the color/theme of the wedding in my head. Let me admit,I love weddings *covers face*

Back to my friend, immediately after church service,I drove down to her place to get the main gist ”as e dey hot” but on getting there I saw my friend with a not so cheerful face for someone who just did a mini-introduction.

I didn’t bother to ask what was wrong,I just sat there and waited for her to get talking. Then she said,”my mum fell in love with Tunji immediately” then I smiled from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat then I heard ”BUT,my dad was just too harsh on him”.

What are his reasons?, I asked. She said he didn’t tell me until Tunji had left. She said her Dad complained about Tunji’s background,he said Tunji comes from a broken home and children from such homes tend to follow their parents path.

I was shocked, why would a father make such a hasty generalization or conclusion?. I felt bad for my friend and then she looked at me closely and said ”Look, whether my Dad likes it or not I’ll marry Tunji Nothing can stop this”.

What are your thoughts on this? An African proverb says, what the elders see while sitting, the younger ones can’t see even if they climb a tree.

However,is it all the time that our parents are right about their judgement of other people? Are their reasons concrete enough? What would you do if this happened to you? Do you agree with her ” Nothing can stop this” statement?

Nice write up L’Queen….Its obvious that this friennd of ur’s really loves Tunji. Now,am not saying that her Fathers conclusion is right, neither am I saying its wrong.Yes,d proverb about wat elders see while sitting, children can’t see when they climb a tree is true…But times hav changed.Almost NOBODY believes in proverbs.I think Ur friend should giv her Father sm time to get to know Tunji better…she should also encourage Tunji to get closer to her dad. They just might become Best of Friends!

Its a bitter truth of our time… I have fallen victim of that too and I bless God that it happened… The question that remains to be answered is whether we are going to repeat the same thing when we become parents… God help us!

I think d main issue is if Tunji is God’s will for her, if he is then she shud b calm n ask God to take control n touch d father’s heart. Our parents are not God so dey are not perfect dey are bound to make mistakes. Av heard of stories were d parents did not agree but dey went ahead and d marraige lasted it was d parent dt begged later. Am nt saying she shud wed without her fathers consent, she shud be patient, she cud ask family memners or pastors to talk to her dad. And most importantly she shud pray dt God shud touch her father’s heart if she is convienced that Tunji is God’s will for her.
