Going at his pace: A year older and a lot wiser. Birthday Post.
It’s my birthday!!! I’m so grateful for another year round the sun, most especially the gift of life and health.
Thank you Jesus for everything! This year, I don’t have a lot planned coz as we all know, Coronavirus!!! (In Cardi B’s voice) Please stay safe my Lovelies. Stay home.
Not much to do while in isolation but I plan to make some chicken suya and fried rice, sip some smoothies, Netflix/chill and just enjoy the day with my family.
I plan to go live on Instagram at 8pm Nigerian time and 3pm EST to chat with you and share my day, so be sure to catch it and wish me a happy birthday by yourself 😘 it will mean a lot to me.
Hopefully, I’ll also do a vlog of my whole birthday during Quarantine so look out for that on my YouTube channel this weekend.
To avoid a lengthy post, I won’t be sharing all of my previous year lessons like I did here on my birthday last year but I’ll be sharing the most outstanding lesson which I think y’all would also benefit from.
I did a quick photoshoot with Drew Oak photography and I’ll be sharing some photos on Instagram and also in this post.
My most outstanding lesson this year was from the book of Deuteronomy 8 — the whole chapter. In this passage, Moses was telling the Jews that all they had been through — including 40 years of waiting in the wilderness is exactly the kind of discipline their loving Heavenly Father knew they needed. Meaning that, although, time of wilderness or let’s call it stillness – when it seems like nothing grand is happening in your life seems like wasted time, it really isn’t.
It made me realize that my prayers, fasting or even my disobedience won’t force God to do what I want at my own time. He will ONLY do it at his own time! Either to discipline me, to prepare me or to work out patience in me.
This year more than anything else, I’ve learnt to just follow his lead, to not be anxious. To exercise patience and be joyful while I wait. Not grudgingly waiting and refusing to serve. Making all sorts of flimsy excuses to stay idle. Instead, serving the lord with gladness and sharing the messages he places in my heart to uplift others especially people with mental health/ relationship trauma issues.
While reading that passage, My eyes were opened to this sobering truth and I wrote this down in my journal;
Follow your Heavenly Father’s course. He may be moving as fast as you can handle, or He may be crawling at a snail’s pace. In either case, He knows exactly what He’s doing.
God always has a better plan.
I learnt that he uses my time of waiting to instil the special kind of discipline and patience he needs me to learn. He uses this time to prepare me for what is ahead.
So instead of letting this time just pass, I challenged myself. Started working on a new service business, I took paid and free courses, took more collaborations, worked with brands instead of hiding and saying no to opportunities, I gained new skills/ knowledge regarding copywriting and digital marketing. I worked towards being a better wife, daughter, sister and mother.
I cooked meals I have never tried before. I opened up my heart to be an encourager and listener to other people who needed someone to listen. I made a few new friends, reconnected with some amazing old friends, I prayed along with people also going through difficult times and I’m grateful that some testimonies came forth.
This past year, I didn’t just live for me, I shared my pain, my stories and my time with others. That for me, was beyond fulfilling.
What’s Ahead?
Looking forward, asides my other BIG goals for this new year, I want to get back on fitness and exercise. I want to eat healthier and become fit. After reading livpure customer reviews and complaints I’ve been convinced to use it as an aid for my weight loss journey.
I know God has the best plans ahead of me so I’m excited to see the joyful adventure and testimonies this year will bring.
Happy Birthday to Me!
