TO MY SISTER IN THE LORD

I had written something else for this week, but by popular demand from my male readers/brothers in the lord I had to do a sequel to last week’s post. I believe a good number of us enjoyed it, please make sure you read it if you haven’t. I also appreciate those readers who dropped comments and every one that took it upon them to share the post with friends via Facebook and Twitter.

Well today it’s about US. When I say US it means I am also included. While interacting with some of my male readers, they pointed out a good number of things about sisters and I’ll try as much as I can to relay some of them to you.

Getting married to a woman who loves God and fears him is the dream of almost every man. It is believed that women in church pray a lot and it is the desire of most men to have a wife who will be a helper both physically and spiritually. I was reading through Proverbs 31 last week and from verse 10 downwards, it broke down the qualities of a godly woman.

The price of a Godly woman is far above rubies and that’s why you see quite a number of brothers of marriage-able age in church. Not just to worship God alone but also to find themselves a gloriously packaged sister especially those ones in the choir and ushering unit. Chai! These brothers ehn! Una get sense oh. That’s when they will start complimenting you, “Sister Tolu, I was blessed by your ministration today, Halleluiah!” Hehehe…..I sabi una scope na. *winks*

My dear sister, I greet you in the name of the Lord. Let’s go straight to the matter. The brothers complained that some church sisters are very unfriendly, they hardly smile and it makes it hard for a brother to approach them. They have that “the- devil -is- a- liar” kind of frown that makes the poor brother run for cover. Haba! Sista Mercy, I know it is good for a woman to be firm and proper so as to avoid Iranu (nonsense or disrespect) but believe me, your smile is still your best accessory. It brightens your eyes and makes your face even more attractive. So my dear sister, always put a smile on that beautiful face of yours. Biko! Don’t drive away your God-ordained brother oh! To avoid MFM tinz years later.

Another thing they told me is, some sisters like to put a brother on a long thing. They know quite well that they don’t want that brother, but instead of saying a definite ‘NO’ they will keep posting him. You’ll hear things like, “Bro. Victor, exercise more patience I’m still praying about it”. When in actual fact it is another brother they are talking to God about. Ahn Ahn! Sister Ndidi, pity the brother na. For how long will he wait? But brothers, una dey try oh….the lord is your strength ehn. It is well sir.

They also said some sisters can be very boring. They can’t hold down a conversation. They only contribute to issues about church. That’s good oh my dear sister but trust me ma, men like a woman who can be their best friend, someone they can discuss almost anything with. From politics to football to career etc. No one is saying you have to know it all but at least know a little about his interests.

That you are Christian sister doesn’t mean you shouldn’t know the football club your man supports and even volunteer to accompany him to watch the games sometimes. Those are the little things that can add spice to your courtship.

So my beloveth sister Nkechi, abeg find out if he’s a Man-U fan so you will know how to relate or celebrate with him after a match or if he’s an Arsenal fan so you won’t go and say something to annoy him when his team lost. Hehehe…let me not look for trouble oh…that’s all on that.

Also to avoid wahala, I don’t want to talk much about dressing due to differences in doctrines and all. But the major thing is, dress well. Always look good, not just for yourself but for him too. Nice hairdo, nice shoes, nice bags, nice clothes with correct color combo etc. Men like to show off their women, so let your dressing represent. Whether in church or at work.

The important thing is to be decent in all manner of dressing whether skirt or gown, beret or scarf, jewelry or no jewelry. Let them be good looking and still give glory to God….shikena!

On to the next one, some sisters like to put on a cloak of pretence. The fact that you met him in the church doesn’t mean you should pretend to be what you are not. Don’t tell him you can do three days non-stop dry fasting, when in all honesty you can hardly fast till 6pm. Don’t tell lies to impress the brother. Let him know the real you.

Be free, be real. Don’t lie about being a virgin when you know you are not, we all have our pasts and if God has forgiven you then there’s no reason why the brother should not accept you the way you are (2corinthians 5vs 17).Even the brothers themselves have their own past, so don’t put up a holy face coz in the end he’ll still discover.

Well I think I have said a lot already and for now that’s all. This doesn’t apply to all sisters but I do believe we can relate to some of the things they pointed out to us.

My beautiful sisters, no matter what, we are the best in fact the bestest. LOL. Even the brothers would agree with me…whosoever finds us has found a good thing. Na so bible talk am…Proverbs 18vs 22.

May God grant us wisdom in all these things.

Share this with your friends, loved ones and church members too.

Drop a comment if you have agree with this

I wish you all an amazing week.

L’queen

tolu! well done. wonderful piece. many of these “christian sisters” chase their God-given men away because they often misinterpret the bible and the definitions of holiness a long side other characteristics described in the bible. i personally have a problem with dressing but like you said, because of doctrinal values and cores, i wnt dwell much on it. a woman i know got married days ago in her late forties. not that shes not beautiful, intelligent or hardworking, as a matter of fact, she is all and more but her shoulder pads can be thick for Africa and her skirts can sweep lagos market clean. c’mon which brother in dis time and age wants to marry a woman in costumes? no one is asking them to compromise, but be a chick for christ! dont chase them brovas away! daddy and mummy might still need you around the house, but it will get to a stage where you will be a burden to them at age 30…ejo! biko! cut dese brothers some slack….much love
